Nevada range country

Where the songs began.

Beau Buckingham spent most of his life working sheep ranches across Nevada’s wide desert country. Home was often a sheepherder’s wagon parked out on the range. The days were quiet, the wind kept moving, and time had a slower pace.

That suited Buck just fine.

“You spend enough nights in a sheepherder’s wagon, you get plenty of time to practice a singing voice.”

When spring shearing brought him into Ely, Beau joked that he’d just finished “Spa Day for the sheep.” He’d head to an old bar, where sooner or later someone would call out, “Buck, sing one!”

“Buck, sing one!”

Beau would pick up an old acoustic guitar and sing about heartbreak, dust, and miles of desert road. Sometimes the bartender paid him in drinks. Most nights, Beau figured that was enough.

Then a Flying B Records executive passed through Ely and heard him singing in a corner. There was no stage and no spotlight—just a weathered voice telling a story. The label invited him to bring those songs into the studio.

The younger artists started calling him “Buck,” partly for his last name and partly because he was the older voice in the room. Buck has his own explanation: “Back in my crazier days I might’ve met some of y’all’s mamas.”

The sound of Buck

Hard miles.
Honest songs.

Buck sings about quiet nights, whiskey conversations, and the love stories that come with a life lived long enough to know better. When he isn’t recording, he can often be found around Elko, Nevada, enjoying a Basque Pecan drink and a good conversation at the historic Star Hotel.

“Home’s wherever my hat hangs.”
